Built in 1838 from lava rock by John Adams Kuakini (governor of island of Hawaii‘i), Hulihe‘e Palace is a historic landmark located in Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, on Ali‘i Drive. The Daughters of Hawai‘i, a group dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of the Hawaiian Islands, restored Huliheʻe Palace in 1927. Now it is a museum. In 1973 the palace was added to the National Register of Historic Places listings on the island of Hawaii.
